About Solent School of Flying

Solent School of Flying, based at Bournemouth Airport, is the South of England’s premier flying school, providing trial lessons and quality flight training to Private Pilot Licence (PPL) level. Whether you wish to fly for pleasure or become a fully qualified commercial pilot, we are your first step.

Unique

Solent School of Flying is located at Bournemouth Airport in Aviation Park West, with it’s sister-companies, Bournemouth Helicopters and Bournemouth Handling. We provide a unique flight training environment with exceptional facilities that include one to one classrooms, a student study and planning lounge, customs and handling, and a coffee shop. Uniquely, we are the only training school with a refueling vehicle, so there are no delays when you fly with us.

Our fleet consists of Piper PA28, Cessna 150 Aerobat, Tobago TB10 and Cirrus SR20 aircraft.. All our aircraft use ‘avgas’ fuel rather than diesel due to the proven reliability and safety record of this type of engine.

Busy Airports are Excellent for Training

Being located at Bournemouth Airport means that you will be training in Class D airspace, where busy scheduled traffic operates throughout the day. This allows you to receive a high level of training and gain confidence in airspace where commercial aircraft operate. You would be unlikely to receive this invaluable experience at a small non-commercial airfield.

The Chief Flying Instructor, Mark Mosley, manages a team of three established instructors, providing a consistent, high quality training programme.

Opening Hours

Our office operates 7 days a week 0900-1730. The times of flight training and aircraft hire will fit according to student requirements, often extending beyond office hours.
